Foundation Day, another year of upholding our values, traditions, and the spirit of excellence.
Shiksha Niketan, Jeevan Nagar celebrated its 33rd Foundation Day-cum–Grandparents Day on 20 th of Feb., 2026. Foundation Day is a day of remembrance, a day of honoring, a day to celebrate what has been achieved over the past years and a day to look forward to what is yet to come.
The students and teachers of the School marked the Foundation Day in the form of Splendid celebrations with Enthusiastic, zeal, integrity, Dedication, Devotion and Loyality. The Celebration was enacted in the form of a journey of the school from a humble beginning to its Eminent stature as its stood there today in the presence of guests. The Chief Guest of the event was Hon’ble Sh. Kavinder Gupta (Lt. Governor of Ladakh UT, Former Deputy Chief minister, Assembly Speaker & three term Mayor), Guest of Honours Sh. Bharat Bhushan (Convener Tourism Cell BJP & Vice – Chairman Jammu Cantonment Board,) Sh. Rachit Khosla (Co – Convener BJP Industries Cell J&K UT),Smt.Neha Nanda (Social Activist) , Sh. Paramjeet Singh Raina (Corporator).
The Programme started with the welcoming of the Guests, Grandparents, followed by the lamp lighting & paid Tribute to Late Sh. Dev Dutt Mengi Ji by the worthy Principal of the School, the Trustee – Mrs. Rita Mengi Ji, Director of Pushp Vatika Mr. Risheek Mengi Ji, Director of RMPS Mr. Rakshan Mengi Ji & Mrs. Kashish Mengi Ji(Member of Managing Committee), Headmaster of the School – Mr. Harish Sharma Ji, Incharges from all the wings and other invited Dignitaries.
There was a spectrum of virtual programmes presented by the students of different school wings.
The Foundation Day began with a beautiful “SHIV ARADHANA” performance by Middle Wing was choreographed by Mr. Vikas Kumar accompanied by Ms. Sakshi Mehra and Ms. Nowjot Kaur. & an emotional skit presented by Primary Wing students related to ‘ Values of Grandparents in our life’ was choreographed by Ms. Swastika Thapa accompanied by Ms. Rohini Chandel, Ms. Kavita Jamwal and Ms. Rami Pathania . The fun and enjoyment were also there for the Grandparents which brought a happy twinkle in their eyes.
Our School has the tradition to give prizes and awards to its meritorious students for their unique performance both in Academics and Extra Co-curricular activities. On the occasion of the 57th Annual Day, the institution distributed cash prizes and cheques to reward achievers in recognition of their exceptional accomplishments. The cheque distribution included two cheques of ₹10,000, thirty-two cheques of ₹5,000, sixteen cheques of ₹2,000, and one hundred and one cheques of ₹1,000, amounting to a total distribution of ₹ 3,13,000.
Additionally 2 special Poverty Assistance Cheques worth Rs 5,000 each, were awarded to deserving students, Kashish Sharma & Vanshika Sharma, under the poverty-cum-merit category, reflecting the school’s spirit of empathy and inclusivity in the loving memories of “Late Sh. Dev Dutt Mengi ji” The Founder‑Principal.
On the occasion of the 33rd Foundation Day, the students who obtained 1st Position (26 Students including Students of SNS Gandhi Nagar), 2nd Position (42 Students including Students of SNS Gandhi Nagar) and 3rd Position (53 Students including Students of SNS Gandhi Nagar) and 100% Attendance (49 Students including Student of SNS Gandhi Nagar), and Sports Award in National Level ( including Students of SNS Gandhi Nagar) awarded the momentoes and certificate, & Two students were awarded under the JK Red Ribbon Vigil Competition, jointly conducted by JKBOSE in collaboration with the J&K AIDS Control Society and the Health & Medical Education Department with a cash prize for their commendable performance by the Special Guests. Grandparents of students enjoying a meticulously organised programme filled with cultural vibrancy. The event brought smiles to every face by the performance of timeless old songs by Primary Wing . A captivating enactment about the life history of a revered educator, social activist, and former Deputy Director in the School Education Department Late Sh. I. D Soni Ji. The Performance by Middle Wing narrated the life journey of Sh. I. D Soni Ji which dedicated over five decades to social service, specialising in Elderly Care, Scouting & promoting peace through organizations like Bharat Scouts & Guides & Home for the Aged.
The celebration was meticulously organised with specific duties assigned to staff members.
Welcome, hospitality, were managed by the Office under the guidance of Office Incharge Ms.Vijay Dogra.
Invitation, guest arrangements, presentation of mementoes, bouquets, and badges were handled by the Higher Secondary Wing under the guidance of Higher Sec.Wing Incharge Mr.Sudesh Rana.
Seating arrangements, kanath, discipline, and tent management were overseen by the Sports Teachers and High Wing under the guidance of High Wing Incharge Ms.Veena Gupta.
Prize distribution was coordinated by the Middle Wing under the guidance of Middle Wing Incharge Ms.Ramanjeet Kour.
Anchoring, press coverage, decoration, curtain, matting, and puja arrangements were efficiently managed by the Primary Wing under the guidance of Primary Wing Incharge Ms.Suman Gupta.
Cultural activities were organised jointly by the Primary and Middle Wings.
Preparation of bouquets, badges, and decorative material was carried out by the Art & Craft teachers.
The Chief Guest Hon’ble Sh. Kavinder Gupta in his address highlighted the essence of family values and the pivotal role grandparents play in imparting moral values to young generations.
On the other hand, the Guests praised the combined efforts of the School Management and the teachers for giving proper directions to the students with regard to their Academics and other Extra co-curricular spheres to ensure their all round personality development.
At the end of the event, the students of Primary Wing expressed the gratitude on behalf of the School Management to all the Guests & Grandparents for making the event a successful one.
The Principal Sh. Rameshwar Mengi Ji, gave an impressive speech highlighting the unique educational achievements of the founder Principal Late. Sh. Dev Dutt Mengi Ji who was an Epitome of Grit, Integrity and the person of colossal stature. His worthyself expressed his gratitude to all the revered Guests especially the Grandparents for their support and co-operation to uplift the educational Standard of the institution. At last, Mr. Rameshwar Mengi Ji, the Principal of the School also gave vote of thanks to all the parents and the dignitaries who graced the function with their being presence.
The Grand celebration concluded with the National Anthem, leaving the audience inspired and filled with Pride. This foundation day was a perfect blend of honouring the legacy, embracing the present and preparing for a promising future.
